Other bulbs you could use in combination are miniature Daffodils, gorgeous little Squills (Scilla), Cyclamen, Anemones, Chiolodoxa, Leucojums or Crocus. They prefer a sheltered position in semi-shade (dense shade can reduce flowering) with a rich, moist, free draining soil. If possible, it is desirable to plant hellebores on a sloping bed, both to improve drainage and also to make it easier to look into the flowers, which naturally nod.
